Teaching support is tailored to the learner's role and goal. It may include study planning, understanding assignments, preparing for teaching assistant applications, organising classroom activities or building confidence with professional expectations.
This is support and coaching rather than a regulated teaching qualification. The scope and intended outcome are agreed before sessions begin.

Qualification progression
Progressing to a recognised teaching-support qualification
Schools set their own entry requirements for teaching assistants. The National Careers Service says applicants will usually need GCSEs at grades 9 to 4, or equivalent, in English and maths, together with evidence that they can work effectively with children, teachers and parents.
How certification is achieved
Prude Consulting can prepare learners and signpost them to an NCFE-approved centre offering the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning. NCFE is an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation.
There is no single final certification exam for this qualification. An approved centre registers the learner, teaches or supports the programme, and internally assesses a portfolio of evidence. Learners must be working or completing a practical placement in a school or college so that both knowledge and practical competence can be demonstrated.
What the regulated route normally involves
- Register with an NCFE-approved centre
- Be at least 16 years old
- Complete all 11 mandatory units
- Build a portfolio of assessed evidence
- Undertake work or a practical placement
- Demonstrate knowledge and workplace competence
- Complete internal assessment through the centre
- Allow approximately one year, subject to the provider
